Waterfalls on the Road to Hana

Posted: November 6, 2007

One of my favorite things to do on Maui is to visit the waterfalls on the way to Hana.  Some of these magnificent waterfalls are right off the road.  Others involve hiking downstream to see how the stream cascades and plunges from one level of pools to another on its way to the sea.

This charming waterfall along the Wahine Hauoli trail has red Lehua and pink wild orchids blooming on the shore of its pool.

Taro, ferns and ginger thrive at Waikani Falls, just after Keanae on the way to Hana.

At Nahiku, a waterfall launches itself off cliffs covered in mosses and ferns into a deep blue pool and continues on its journey to the sea.

Each waterfall is unique and has a character to itself.  I never tire of seeing the myraid of waterfalls along on the road to Hana.
