Lanihuli in the Rain

Rain descends on the summit of Lanihuli creating ephemeral waterfalls and hanging valleys. These miniature valleys shelter rare native plants such as loulu hiwa, the native fan palm (Pritchardia martii), which is endemic only to the Ko’olau Mountains of O’ahu. Lanihuli is the peak above the Nu’uanu Pali that is prominent in the mele and hula (song and dance) of ancient Hawai’i.
