Kahanu Cottage in Hana

This charming cottage framed by niu and hala trees on the Hana coast of Maui was once the home of the descendants of Chief Kahanu. The Kahanu family deeded their land to the National Tropical Botanical Garden to establish Kahanu Gardens, the site of Pi’ilanihale heiau, which is believed to be the largest heiau in Hawai’i.
