Due to dark rain clouds over the Koolau Mountains we decided to forgo our original hiking plans in favor of a little known loop up Kaupo Cliffs and down the TomTom Trail in Waimanalo.
I drove up to Aiea State Park to see where Hawaiian forestry and herbal medicine intersect and to see stunning views of Kane’ohe Bay and windward O’ahu.
I climbed up Manamana Ridge from Ka’a’awa Valley to look for native plants and to explore the network of trails that overlook the Ko’olauloa Coast of windward O’ahu.
I hiked up Wailupe Valley in East Oahu to see the native plants and animals that live on the west middle ridge of Wailupe Valley.
